HowTo Install NST 2.16 on an Asus Zenbook Prime
Due to newer motherboards including UEFI and secure boot features, installing NST on newer laptops, such as the Asus Zenbook Prime can be a bit tricky. The following steps will guide you through the installation of NST 2.16 on an Asus Model UX31A, using a SanDisk model Live USB, but the general procedure should carry over to similar models.
Disabling Secure Boot
On the Asus UX31A, the option to disable secure boot can be found in the BIOS under an anti-theft setting. The effect of this setting is to prevent Live USB drives from booting correctly. When it is disabled, you will see additional boot options. In particular, you will see two options pertaining to the SanDisk USB:
- UEFI: SanDisk
- SanDisk
You will need to select the option that simply reads "SanDisk."
Hard Drive Installation
To correctly install NST 2.16 on your hard drive, you will need to select the no GPT option from the boot menu of the flash drive.
Installing Wifi Drivers
The wireless chipset of the Asus UX31A does not always work out-of-the-box. The correct drivers can be downloaded [here].
Once you download the file, extract it and copy it to the /lib/firmware/ directory, and reboot your machine:
